Miner’s Loop

The trailhead starts from the main Klondike Bluffs parking lot just outside of Moab, UT to the north.

We have been riding it in lollypop style configuration. From the parking lot start out on the Klondike 4X4 road (adaptive level 4) or the more challenging single track Inside passage trail (adaptive level 9) just to the left. The Inside passage will require at least intermediate level riding skill having some fairly tricky technical rock features to work through. The Inside passage trail blends back into the same Klondike 4X4 road where you ride north until you get to the Klondike 4X4, Baby Steps and the Dino-Flow intersection. Just before the intersection there is an old river bed with a deep/long sand trap to grind through. If you don’t have any experience with this type of riding, it would wise to have a able bodied friend along to lend a helping hand. If the sand is dry without any moisture you will sink in and it’s like riding through glue! Continue straight ahead on The Dino-Flow trail (adaptive level 7) for a short distance until you get to another intersection with the EKG trail. Turn right and proceed climbing on the EKG trail (adaptive level 7). You will only be on the EKG trail for a short distance before you reach your primary destination “Miners Loop”. We have been riding the loop in a counter clockwise direction. If you ride it clockwise there will be a large number of stair steps that you will have to scale and will require a ton of energy! Miner’s Loop (adaptive level 9) is all single track with a mix of desert style terrain and boulder features. The first half of the ride is primarily climbing with a lot of technical obstacles to work through. The back half of the ride has a lot of descending tight turns and 12-18” rock stair step drops to negotiate on your way back around to finish the loop. This loop is quite technical and requires a lot of energy to complete. This one is for the more advanced rider with good physical conditioning. After completing the loop the return trip is the same only in reverse.

I installed a capable preforming e-assist system two years ago. Being an incomplete Quad, this has enabled me to hang with the Para’s!

Such and enjoyable experience to take on the more extreme group rides and actually be part of the group!
