Rip & Tear

The Rip & Tear trail is a small part of the greater Galena lodge trail system making up approximately 30 miles of dedicated mountain bike trails.
The ride starts from the main parking lot of the lodge. There are a couple different ways to make this ride.
The way we have been riding it the last few times is to begin riding to the north on the old Gladiator jeep trail #189.
This is a fairly steady/scenic climb for about two miles to a fork in the trail (adaptive level 5). At this intersection take a right turn onto trail NF-182. Trail NF-182 is an old logging road with some steep/loose sections that will definitely test your lungs! (adaptive level 6).
Ride roughly a mile up the NF-182 trail and there is a right turn which is the start of the Rip & Tear trail. The Rip & Tear trail was built roughly two years ago. This trail is fairly narrow tree lined single track with a lot of fast twitchy snake like turns. Use a some caution the first time through. Mistakes will be painful! The trail is primarily downhill and will take you 2 miles back to the lodge parking lot to complete the loop (adaptive level 8).
The lodge has a small restaurant that serves amazing food with a small eating area out on the deck.
This is a great way to wrap up the day or to refuel and go out to explore one of the other trails.
