Tectonic Shift – Oil Well Flats

A fantastic desert trail that you can ride almost year around.  It’s wide single track, almost double track in some spots.  You will encounter rocks in the trail that you will have to crawl over.  There are very few off camber sections and steep pitch sections are very few, however there are a couple that could prove too steep for front wheel drive handcycles.

This is a great 1-2 hour ride depending on your skill level.

Start at the lower parking area for this particular trail.  Head out on Tectonic Shift.  Go a mile or two and the trail splits.  Stay left (right is Anticline) and go another 1/2 mile or so and you’ll pop out on Road 5941.  Take a left on 5941 and pedal about 1/4 mile and pick up Path of Least Resistance ( an old jeep road).  This will take you back to Tectonic Shift and back to the lower parking lot.
